TitleDesperate Dan vol.29 no.23 1974AuthorAnonymousDate1974DescriptionDesperate Dan was an irregular sheet produced at the University of Waikato in the 1970s through to the early 80's.
Desperate Dan visits Delphi, mockingly consulting the "Oracle of TB1" with a grand philosophical question. The “confidential” satirical response mixed anti-establishment slogans and cryptic political jabs was then shared this with thousands, sending a cheeky exposé to major editors, convinced it served a higher conspiratorial purpose. They concluded with smug satisfaction that the Oracle might now think twice before speaking again.
A cheeky commentary on a motion, passed by a 4–2 vote, to relocate the science blocks and create a campus crèche hasn't been acted on by the University Council. The delay is blamed on vague economic issues in Hamilton.
Desperate Dan also expresses outrage that the witty graffiti, once etched into a cowshed wall, has been excluded from the university's 1979 Handbook by the Publications Committee.
