Red Spark - Journal of the Victoria University of Wellington Socialist Club 1969-1970

The Victoria University of Wellington Socialist Club was founded in 1969 with the objectives:
(A) To urge the acceptance of and to promote socialism in New Zealand and elsewhere as the theory of social reconstruction most likely to improve the condition of mankind.
(B) To undertake such practical political activities as are likely to be effective in attaining Socialism.
(C) To advocate worker control of industry in all countries.
(D) To promote solidarity with, and to defend and further the interests of all exploited classes in New Zealand and elsewhere and in particular to defend and further the interests of students in all educational institutions in New Zealand and elsewhere.
(E) To vigorously oppose any attempts to restrict civil liberties.
(F) To vigorously oppose discrimination on the grounds of race, religion, creed or sex.
(G) To oppose chauvinism, such forms of nationalism and any other ideologies as are likely to divert exploited classes from defending their own interests.

Red Spark was published to support these objectives. Topics include student movements, politics and political views, workers' rights, women's liberation, and international events. 

Red Spark ran from early 1969 to May 1970.
