Hector Bethune was a religious man and held a significant interest in cinematography. He was married to Muriel Noeleen Bethune (Eleanor), and they had five children: Eleanor Neil, Miriam Bethune, Rachel Coppens, Stuart Bethune, and Kathryn Mercer.
